On Friday, May 16, 41 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3239 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 34 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, two – of Russia and one – of France due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
two citizens of Belarus and one - of Moldova were detected at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Ukraine and one - of Morocco.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Lithuania, two – of USA, one – of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
