Friday, May 15, 57 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3118 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country. 20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected

At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving the country with a good vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged technical inspection certificate for the trailer of the good vehicle, was detected. While during an immigration control in Rucava Parish, South Kurzeme Municipality, one Latvian citizen, who presented to border guards a forged Polish Driving Licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the citizen of Latvia for the use of a forged document, while the citizen of Uzbekistan was held administratively liable.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; while at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Germany and two – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons – five citizen of Lithuania, two – of Iran, one – of Estonia, one – of Ethiopia and one – of Ukraine. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, three – of Kyrgyzstan, three – of Uzbekistan, two - of Belarus, one – of Russia, one - of Moldova and one – of Poland.
