Wednesday, May 13, 94 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2983 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian considerations, four persons were not prevented from crossing the State border during the past 24 hours. In total, nine people have been admitted this year on humanitarian grounds.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 20 offenders at external borders and within the country. 8 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Pakistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Russia was detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid travel document). The parson was subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – 1 citizen of Israel and one – of Pakistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, one – of Estonia, one – of Moldova, one – of Portugal, one - of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
