On Monday, May 12, 65 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2987 persons have been stopped this year. 

 

A total 11 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 30 offenders at external borders and within the country. 16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan entering Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Uzbekistan Roadworthiness Test Certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged document was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

 

at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to three citizens of Belarus and one - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Belarus were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of India and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Moldova, two – of Romania, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one - of Belarus, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Macedonia and one – of Serbia.
