On Sunday, May 11, 51 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2922 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 1 person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 11 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners
at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to two citizens of Russia, two – of Serbia, one – of Moldova, one – of Great Britain and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- exit from the country was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Turkey, who was not in possession of a valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons – four citizens of Somalia, three – of Lithuania, two – of Estonia and one – of Algeria.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 25 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Latvia, four - of Moldova, three – of Lithuania, three – of Ukraine, two – of Russia, two – of Romania, one – of Belarus, one – of Serbia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
