Friday, May 1, 51 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2073 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 69 offenders at external borders and within the country. 29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with documents of another person was detected

at the Port of Liepaja, during immigration control of passengers departing to Sweden by ferry, one citizen of Algeria, who presented to border guards an ID card of another citizen of Italy, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one’s identity. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

 

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki, the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points and the Port of Ventspils, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to two citizens of Kazakhstan and one – of Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to three citizens of Belarus, two – of Germany, one – of Finland and one - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

three citizens of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Kyrgyzstan was not initiated, the other parsons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 14 persons – nine citizens of Lithuania, two – of Estonia, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Brazil.

 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 26 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, five – of Lithuania, four – of Moldova, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Romania, two – of Serbia, two – of Tajikistan, two – of Turkey and one – of Kazakhstan.
