On Thursday, May 1, 148 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2169 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 77 offenders at external borders and within the country. 16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan leaving Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Kyrgyzstan Roadworthiness Test Certificate for trailer, as well as at the Pāternieiki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards forged Uzbekistan Roadworthiness Test Certificates, were detected. Persons were held administratively liable. The forged documents were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 16 persons – six citizens of Estonia, four – of Russia, three – of Lithuania, one – of Great Britain, one – of Morocco and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 45 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Lithuania, eight – of Latvia, six – of Moldova, three – of Russia, three – of Ukraine, two - of Estonia, two - of Kazakhstan, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Serbia, two – of Uzbekistan, two – of Germany, one - of Belarus, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Poland and one – of Tajikistan.
