On Wednesday, May 1, 29 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1624 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 8 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 60 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

25 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 3 foreigners with forged documents were detected

At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of India entered Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged visa, was detected. While at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Latvian International Vehicle Insurance Policy, was detected; as well as at the Paternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged roadworthiness certificate for a vehicle trailer, was detected. The persons were subjected to administrative liability. The citizen of India was returned to the country of departure.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, one – of Saudi Arabia and three – of Armenia, as the foreigners

could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, two - of Russia and three – of Israel due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Tajikistan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Belarus were detected at the Pāternieki and the Riga airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons -  two citizens of Estonia, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Sweden and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 27 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 19 citizens of Belarus, three – of Estonia, one – of Latvia, one – of Kazakhstan,

one - of Moldova, one – of Romania and one – of Ukraine.
