On Saturday, March 9, 23 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 246 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 1 person has been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 30 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

8 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; while at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Azerbaijan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay as well as to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia, departing for United Kingdom without valid for travelling to United Kingdom documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – three citizens of Estonia and one – of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, four – of Latvia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Austria, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Germany.
