Sunday, March 8, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 29 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detected
during the document check at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, a Latvian citizen entered from Sweden, who was wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Moldova, one – of USA and one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; as well as to four citizens of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Great Britain was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Great Britain was not initiated.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – two citizens of Ukraine, two – of Lithuania, one – of Russia and one – of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two - of Lithuania, two – of Kazakhstan, one - of Serbia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
