On Friday, March 8, 24 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 223 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 1 person has been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

four citizens of Russia, four - of Uzbekistan and one - of Kirgizstan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the one citizen of Kirgizstan was not initiated, the other citizens were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Great Britain without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 16 persons – eight citizens of Syria, two - of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Estonia, one – of Guinea, one – of Morocco and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Kirgizstan, two - of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Germany.
