Wednesday, March 4, 4 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 29 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country. 21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan entered Latvia with a good vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Technical Inspection Certificate of the Trailer registered in Uzbekistan, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The Technical Inspection Certificate was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to four citizens of Russia, three – of Belarus and two – of Kazakhstan due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Russia and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – four citizens of Estonia, two – of Afghanistan, one – of Belarus, one - of Uzbekistan and one – of Egypt.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Latvia, three – of Moldova, two – of Russia, two - of Lithuania, one – of Bosnia and Hercegovina, one – of Romania and one – of Serbia.
