On Sunday, March 31, 10 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 775 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and one - of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; to one citizen of Russia and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. While at the Port of Riga entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  one citizen of Lithuania, one – of Estonia, one – of Belarus and one - of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, two – of Estonia, two - of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Germany.
