On Sunday, March 24, 8 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 643 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 5 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan and two – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; to four citizens of Moldova, two – of Ukraine and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigners

one citizen of Russia (female) was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  •      exit from the country was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female), departing for United Kingdom without valid for travelling to United Kingdom documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 27 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 11 citizens of Belarus, six – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Poland and one – of Germany.
