On Sunday, March 23, 8 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 297 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners
three citizens of Russia, one – of Moldova, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Pāternieki, Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Russia was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Serbia, four - of Moldova, three – of Ukraine, two – of Russia, two – of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Belgium and one – of Spain.
