Saturday, March 21, 30 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 140 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 32 offenders at external borders and within the country. 12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Grerbņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan entering Latvia, who during the border check presented to border guards the vehicle and trailer roadworthiness test certificates that showed signs of forgery, was detected. An administrative offence proceeding was initiated for the use of forged documents. Within the framework of the proceeding the vehicle and trailer roadworthiness test certificates were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

 

at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Belarus, one – of Ukraine, one – of Romania and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Kazakhstan was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – three citizens of Estonia and one – of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, two - of Russia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Serbia, one – of Hungary and one – of Germany.
