On Friday, March 21, 1 person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 287 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 56 offenders at external borders and within the country. 28 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 persons with forged documents were detected

In Ludza, during immigration control, one citizen of Latvia entering the country, who presented to border guards a forged Polish driving licence, as well as at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during immigration control, one citizen of Afghanistan departing for Austria, who presented to border guards a forged Romanian ID Card, were detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Ukraine, one – of Serbia, one – of France, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Russia and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

three citizens of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by two citizens of Belarus and one – of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – four citizens of Latvia, two – of Estonia, one – of India and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, three – of Serbia, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one - of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Georgia, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
