Monday, March 16, 45 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 81 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detected
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, a Latvian citizen entered from Germany, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
four citizens of Tajikistan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Russia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 13 persons – three citizens of Latvia, three - of Lithuania, two – of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Nigeria, one – of Ukraine, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Egypt.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan, one - of Kyrgyzstan, one – of South Korea, one – of Moldova, one – of Norway, one – of Serbia and one – of Uzbekistan.
