On Saturday, March 16, 39 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 441 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 2 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including: entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

Entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four foreigners. At the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia due to security reasons; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons -  three citizens of Estonia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, one - of Estonia, one – of Romania, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Tajikistan.
