Sunday, March 15, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 36 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 35 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police was detected

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, a Latvian citizen entered from Cyprus, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of India, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to one citizen of Pakistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Belarus and two – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Russia was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid travel document). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – five citizens of Lithuania, two - of Estonia and one – of Nigeria.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Serbia, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one - Russia, one - of Estonia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Montenegro, one – of Finland and one – of Germany.
