On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Vientuļi Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; as well as to three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Two more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Russia were detected at the Terehova and the Vientuļi Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents and eight minor citizens of Latvia – for Istanbul, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent to leave the country independently, were detected; while at the Silene Border Control Point one Latvian citizen who did not have a valid travel document (document invalid due to change of surname) was detected.  

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – two citizens of Lithuania and one – of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, four – of Latvia, three – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Moldova.
