On Wednesday, March 13, 12 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 328 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 2 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 31 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. While at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Belarus, one – of Georgia and one – of Guinea were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Guinea was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Egypt, who was not in possession of the notarised consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Pakistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 12 citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, one – of Kazakhstan, one - of Bulgaria, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
