Sunday, March 1, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 20 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners  

 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Moldova, one – of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Moldova was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – two citizens of India and one –of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Estonia, two – of Russia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Belgium, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Romania and one – of Serbia.
