Saturday, June 6, 21 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4937 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country. 23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners 

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Kyrgyzstan and one - of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Finland, two – of Moldova, two – of Germany, one - of Russia and one – of Belgium due to security reasonsThe persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Georgia were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa; exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – two citizens of Egypt, one – of Eritrea, one - of Ethiopia, one – of India and one – of Somalia. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two - of Kazakhstan, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of USA, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one - of Moldova and one – of Ukraine.
