Sunday, June 28, 105 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6641persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 30 offenders at external borders and within the country. 10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during immigration control, one citizen of Somalia leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Italian ID Card, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one’s identity and using forged documents.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners 

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner is subject to a valid ban on entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen Area countries; as well as to one citizen of Kazakhstan and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

two citizens of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Russia were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of Russia was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of Pakistan, two – of Egypt and one – of Senegal.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, two – of Romania, two – of Serbia, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Georgia.
