Saturday, June 27, 58 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6536 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during immigration control, one citizen of Pakistan leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Greek residence permit and a forged passport of a citizen of Pakistan, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one’s identity and using forged documents.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners 

at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, as well as at the Port of Ventspils entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia (one is a seafarer) and two citizens of Belarus due to security reasons. Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship's captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in the port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Turkey were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa; exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by one citizen of Kyrgyzstan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for England without valid for travelling to England documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 16 persons – seven citizens of Estonia, three – of Egypt, two – of Pakistan, one – of Russia, one – of Afghanistan, one – of Somalia and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Croatia, one – of South Korea, one – of Mongolia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
