On Friday, June 27, 51 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5710 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 29 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purposes and conditions of entry and stay; to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Kazakhstan due to security reasons, to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days, thus exceeding the permitted period of stay. Persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Tajikistan and one – of Philippines were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). In both cases the persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two - of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Belgium and one – of Sweden.
