Thursday, June 26, 95 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6478 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners 

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; while at the Grebņeva Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

four citizens of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa; were not in possession of valid travel document). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the country was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, leaving the country for Turkey, who did not have notarized consent from at least one parent for the child’s independent departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 16 persons – three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Afghanistan, two – of Iran, two – of Pakistan, two – of Egypt, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Philippine. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Kyrgyzstan, three - of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Latvia, one - of Moldova, one – of Serbia and one – of Iran.
