Wednesday, June 24, 135 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6362 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 57 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the Terehova Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Belarus, one – of Russia, one - of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Germany due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners
one citizen of Tajikistan, one – of Canada, one – of Japan and one – of Great Britain were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Great Britain was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 28 persons – eight citizens of Latvia, seven – of Egypt, four – of Lithuania, three – of Pakistan, three – of Somalia, one – of Ghana, one – of Cameroon and one – of Finland.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Kyrgyzstan, two - of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Italy, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
