On Tuesday, June 24, 20 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total of 5,534 persons have been stopped this year.
A total of 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- Entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
At the Terehova, Grebņeva, Pāternieki, and “Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Kyrgyzstan who were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; one citizen of Moldova who was not in possession of a valid travel document; one citizen of Kazakhstan who was unable to justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; and one citizen of Moldova due to security considerations. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- Violations of residence conditions were detected for 2 foreigners
At the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of China were detected for violating the conditions of residence in the Schengen Area (lack of valid visa or residence permit, or overstay). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – three citizens of Lithuania, two of Finland, one of Russia and one of Belarus.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to cross the border by officials of the State Border Guard: two citizens of Russia, two of Belarus, two of Kazakhstan, two of Moldova, two of Serbia, one of Latvia, one of Azerbaijan, one of Kyrgyzstan, one of Mongolia and one of Ukraine.
