On Monday, June 23, 18 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total of 5,514 persons have been stopped this year.
A total of 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- Entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner
At the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was unable to justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay. The person was returned to the country of departure.
- Violations of residence conditions were detected for 3 foreigners
At the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Ukraine, one of Uzbekistan and one of Turkey were detected for violating the conditions of residence in the Schengen Area countries (lack of valid visa or residence permit, or overstay). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- Exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 Latvian citizen
At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one underage Latvian citizen travelling to Belarus, who did not have a notarised authorisation from the second parent (EU citizen) for leaving the country. The person was denied exit from the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons: four citizens of Lithuania and one of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 29 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to cross the border by officials of the State Border Guard – seven citizens of Moldova, five of Lithuania, three of Russia, three of Kazakhstan, three of China, two of Serbia, two of Uzbekistan, one of Latvia, one of Belarus, one of Kyrgyzstan and one of Ukraine.
