On Sunday, June 22, 29 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total of 5,496 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- One Latvian citizen wanted by the police detained
During immigration control at the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, a Latvian citizen arriving from Germany and wanted by the police was identified. The individual was detained and handed over to the State Police officers.
- Entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners
At the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the person was unable to justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay, and to two more citizens of Moldova due to security considerations. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- Exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 Latvian citizens
At the “Riga” Airport Border Control Point, exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one Latvian citizen travelling to the United Kingdom without a valid travel document, and one Latvian non-citizen whose document was not valid for travel to the United Kingdom.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons: one citizen of Estonia and one of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to cross the border of the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, two of Latvia, two of Lithuania, two of Kyrgyzstan, two of Romania, one of Russia, one of Belarus, one of France, one of Kazakhstan, one of Ukraine, and one of the Czech.
