Sunday, June 21, 51 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6078 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan leaving Latvia with goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Kyrgyzstan Technical Inspection Certificate, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents.

  • 1 wanted citizen of Latvia was detained 

at the Port of Ventspils, while checking the passenger list, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Sweden, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 foreigners 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; as well as to one citizen Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Russia was detected at the Paternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa travel document). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 12 persons – five citizens of Egypt, two – of Algeria, one - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one - of Ethiopia and one – of Somalia. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Latvia, two – of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Italy, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Portuguese.
