On Saturday, June 21, officials of the State boder Guard have prevented 26 persons from attempting to illegally cross the state border of Latvia-Belarus, in total 5467 person have been deterred from illegally crossing the state border this year.

Overall, 12 persons are not prevented from crossing the border for humanitarian reasons this year.

46 offenders were detected at the external borders and within the country. At the external borders were detected 19 border offenders.

  • Nine foreigners are refused entry to Latvia

At the border control points of Grebņeva, Terehova, Pāternieki and Ventspils port, entry into Latvia is refused to one Moldovan citizen, because foreigner is prohibited from entering and residing in the territory of the Schengen area countries, one Belarussian citizen, because foreigner did no have a valid travel dokument, as well as two Russian, two Moldovan, one Croatia, one German and one Belarusian citizen for security reasons. Persons returned to the countries of departure.

  • Violations of residence conditions have been detected for three foreigners

Two Uzbek and one Moldovan nationals who had violated the conditions of stay (without a valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa) in the Schengen area countries were detected at the border control point Terehova. Persons held adminitratively liable.

In carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations have been detected for 10 persons- five Estonian, three Ukrainian, one Russian, one Irish citizen

Officials of the State border Guard have held administrative liability or refused to cross the border for violations in field of use of vehicles and vessels – four citizens of Latvia three lithuanian, two Belarusian, two Kazakhstan, two Moldovan, one Romanian, one Tajikistan, one Ukrainian and one German citizen
