Saturday, June 20, 51 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6078 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted non-citizen of Latvia was detained 

at the Terehova Border Control Point, one non-citizen of Latvia leaving Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners 

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Russia and one – of Somalia due to security reasonsThe persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Turkmenistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Turkmenistan and one – of Russia was not initiated,the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons – six citizens of Estonia and two – of Somalia. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, three - of Latvia, two - of Belarus, two – of Romania, one – of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Qatar, one – of Kazakhstan

and one – of Germany.
