On Friday, June 20, officials of the State boder Guard have prevented 70 persons from attempting to illegally cross the state border of Latvia-Belarus, in total 5441 person have been deterred from illegally crossing the state border this year.

Overall, 12 persons are not prevented from crossing the border for humanitarian reasons this year.

50 offenders were detected at the external borders and within the country. At the external borders were detected 17 border offenders.

  • Eight foreigners are refused entry to Latvia

At the border control point of Grebņeva, Terehova and airport “Riga” four Uzbekistan citizens were refused entry to Latvia, because foreigners couldn’t substantiate the purpose and conditions of entry and stay, as well as two Russian, one German and one Moldovan citizens due to security reasons. Persons returned to the countries of departure.

  • Violations of residence conditions have been detected for two foreigners

One Russian and one Uzbekistan citizen who had violated the conditions of residence (without a valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa) in the Schengen area countries has been detected at the border control point Terehova and Pāternieki. Persons shall be held administratively liable.

  • Exit from country is denied to two Latvian citizens

At the border control point Pāternieki and airport “Riga” was detected one minor Latvian citizen traveling to Belarus and one to Turkey, without notarially certified authority of the other parent (EU citizen) to leave the country. Persons were denied exit from country.

In carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence regulations have been detected for 14 persons- five Lithuanian, two Estonian, two Azerbaijan, two Uzbekistan, one Indian, one Tajikistan and one Ukrainian citizen.

Officials of the State border Guard have held administrative liability or refused to cross the border for violations in field of use of vehicles and vessels – seven citizens of Belarus, three Russian, two Moldovan, one Latvian, one Kyrgyzstan, one Romanian, one Turkey, one Uzbekistan and one Chinese citizen.
