Tuesday, June 16, 71 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5812 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Somalia leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged ID Card of another Belgian citizen, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one’s identity and using forged documents.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Tajikistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia due to security reasonsThe persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Azerbaijan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – one citizen of Estonia, one – of Algeria, one – of Pakistan and one – of Vietnam. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, four – of Kazakhstan, two – of Romania, two – of Serbia, one - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria and one – of Moldova
