On Sunday, June 15, 31 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5189 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan entered Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and a trailer, who presented to border guards forged Roadworthiness Test Certificates, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged documents were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of USA, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Macedonia was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Great Britain, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons -  three citizens of Lithuania and two - of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, five – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two – of Serbia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
