On Saturday, June 14, 50 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5158 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

during immigration control, one citizen of Russia, who presented to border guards a forged Romanian Driving License, was detected on highway P69. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged document.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, three – of Belarus and two – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid to travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons -  one citizen of Algeria and one - of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Moldova, four – of Russia, two – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine, two – of China, one – of Italy, one – of Romania, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
