Saturday, June 13, 205 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5604 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Bangladesh leaving Latvia, who presented to border guards a Residence Permit of another Belgian citizen, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners 

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners are subject to a ban on entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen Area Member States; as well as to three citizens of Moldova and three - of Russia due to security reasonsThe persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

three citizens of Georgia and two - of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Georgia was not initiated,the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – two citizens of Pakistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Ethiopia, one – of India and one – of Sudan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 5 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Moldova, one - of Belarus, one – of Serbia and one – of Germany.
