Thursday, June 11, 82 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5244 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country. 22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 citizen of Latvia with forged documents was detected

while carrying out immigration control, at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, who presented to border guards an ID card of another Belgian citizen, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated were initiated for concealing one’s identity.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; while at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Moldova due to security reasonsThe persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

one citizen of Russia, one – of Tajikistan, one – Ukraine and one – of Iran were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Tajikistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons – four citizens of India, two – of Ethiopia, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Somalia and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Ukraine, one - of Latvia, one – of  Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Germany and one – of Sweden.
