Wednesday, June 10, 110 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5162 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 32 offenders at external borders and within the country. 11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted citizen of Latvia was detained 

at the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners 

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia and one – of Germany due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

four citizens of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – two citizens of Turkey, two - of Uzbekistan, two - of Great Britain and one – of Kyrgyzstan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Moldova, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Russia, one - of Belarus, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Romania, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Ukraine.
