On Tuesday, June 10, 59 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4933 persons have been stopped this year.

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person – a citizen of Latvia was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, a Latvian citizen leaving the country for Ireland, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki Border Control Points as well as at the Port of Riga entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Russia (a seafarer), as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner is banned from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen area countries; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship’s captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of USA were detected at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizens of Russia was not initiated, the citizen of USA was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the country was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Terehova Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia (female) leaving the country, who was not in possession of a notarized power of attorney from at least one parent for the child to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons -  two citizens of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of India, one – of Morocco and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three - of Czech Republic, two – of Latvia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Greece, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Great Britain, one – of Moldova, one – of Slovenia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
