On Wednesday, July 9, 121 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6566 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 13 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country. 10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 person

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) leaving the country for Dubai, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons -  one citizen of Russia, one – of India, one - of Ukraine and one – of Tajikistan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 30 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Russia, five – of Moldova, four – of Latvia, four - of Belarus, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania, one – of Georgia, one – of Great Britain, one – of Luxemburg, one – of Montenegro, one – of Romania, one – of Turkey and one – of Uzbekistan.
