Monday, July 6, 68 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7473 persons have been stopped this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 51 offenders at external borders and within the country. 19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners 

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Israel, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; as well as to two citizens of Belarus, two – of Russia, one – of Germany and one – of Romania due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one minor citizen of Russia and one – of South Africa were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the minor citizen of Russia was not initiated, but the citizen of South Africa was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 13 persons – four citizens of Latvia, two – of Japan, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Brazil, one – of Sudan, one – of Tunisia, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Egypt.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Romania, four - of Moldova, three – of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of China, one – of Austria, one – of Italy, one – of Serbia and one – of Tajikistan.
