On Sunday, July 6, 85 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6322 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 13 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Russia (female) leaving Latvia, who during border check presented to border guards a forged Polish Driving Licence, was detected. The person claimed to have obtained the license in Poland, attending a driving school, and believed the document to be authentic. In addition, the person presented a valid Russian-issued Driving License. The forged Polish Driving License was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document (the validity period of the presented passport is less than 3 months); while entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused two citizens of Russia and one – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

 conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

three citizens of Russia (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit), two citizens of Russia and one – of Iran (were not in possession of valid travel document and one citizen of Russia whose visa, issued for a private visit, was used to transport cargo were detected at Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries. In the last case, the visa was revoked, in all the others, the persons were held administratively liable.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons -  two citizens of Russia, two – of Estonia, one – of Finland and one – of Germany.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, five – of Russia, two – of Latvia, two – of Estonia,

two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Moldova, one – of Serbia and one – of Lithuania.
