On Saturday, July 5, 59 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6237 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 13 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Port of Ventspils, during profiling of passengers entered Latvia from Sweden by ferry, one citizen of Poland, who presented to border guards a forged Polish Driving Licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to two citizens of Georgia, as the foreigners are prohibited from entering and staying in Schengen area countries, to one citizen of Moldova (female), as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document (the validity period of the presented passport is less than 3 months); as well as to two citizens of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Moldova and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons - four citizens of Lithuania and two – of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 30 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, five – of Lithuania, four – of Kazakhstan, four - of Moldova, two - of Latvia, two – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Russia, one – of Romania, one – of Slovakia, one – of Ukraine, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Germany one – of Chine.
