On Friday, July 4, 68 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 6178 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 13 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 60 offenders at external borders and within the country. 27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person – a citizen of Latvia was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during migration control one Latvian citizen entering from Frankfurt, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 8 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well to two citizens of Moldova and two – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners

four citizens of Belarus, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Moldova and one – of Russia were detected at the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons -  six citizens of Lithuania and two – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 25 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, four – of Lithuania, three – of Moldova, two - of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Serbia, one – of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Romania, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
