On Wednesday, July 23, 58 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 7519 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 15 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 66 offenders at external borders and within the country. 27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner is subject to a ban on entering and residing in Schengen Area countries; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as to eight citizens of Moldova, one – of Russia and one – of Romania due to security reasons. The persons were returned to country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

eight citizens of Russia and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport a Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, were not in possession of valid travel document). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by two citizens of Russia was not initiated. The other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 13 persons -  seven citizens of Lithuania, two - of Ukraine, one – of Estonia, one – of Russia, one - of Georgia and one– of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 26 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Latvia, four - of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, two – of Poland, two – of Romania, two – of Uzbekistan, two – of China, one – of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Great Britain, one - of Moldova and one – of Spain.
