Wednesday, July 22, 140 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 8553 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country. 9 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during immigration control conducting passenger profiling in the public area, one person, stated that he was a citizen of Gambia, who presented to border guards a forged German alien's travel document, was detected. The photograph in the document did not match the person presenting it. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing one's identity and using a forged document. The forged document was seized.

at the „Riga” Airport and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Turkey as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and stay and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Georgia were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specify in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the persons was not initiated.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 19 persons - 16 citizens of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Nigeria.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Moldova, three – of Russia, three – of Romania, two - of Belarus, two - of Kazakhstan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Georgia, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Serbia and one – of Tajikistan.
